The name of the pen contains the word Maki-e which describes the Japanese lacquer art used in the production of 'Kaga' Hira Maki-e Sansui. Lacquer art means that you use urushilac to decorate an object.
The technology started as an elegant and beautiful craft in the manufacture of wedding gifts and is today a very well-known Japanese craft. During the production of the Century collection, Platinum has chosen to use the popular lacquer art on, among other things, the fountain pen.
The pen is equipped with an innovative lid that contains a unique "Slip & Seal" mechanism which prevents ink from drying out in the pen. Another advantage is its 14 k plated tip which is available in sizes Fine and Medium.
